Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Sander to join our team on the first shift at our Rockledge, FL facility. This full-time role involves preparing cabinetry components using hand-operated orbital sanders and other tools to ensure surfaces are smooth and ready for finishing. Attention to detail, quality assurance, and effective communication across departments are key to success in this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Uphold and support the company's CARE values in daily operations.
• Consistently produce high-quality cabinetry products to meet customer standards.
• Operate orbital sanders to sand and clean drawers and doors, correcting any surface imperfections.
• Prepare surfaces for paint or stain application using appropriate hand tools.
• Conduct tactile and visual quality checks on sanded pieces to ensure finish quality.
• Identify and report any defective materials or questionable conditions to supervisors promptly.
• Read and follow labeling and instructions carefully; properly organize finished pieces on racks per order specifications.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment, adhering to safety protocols.
• Complete and maintain accurate documentation for parts handled.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Proficiency in operating orbital sanders and other hand tools.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with fundamental math abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret tape measures accurately.
• Capable of standing for prolonged periods while performing repetitive motions.
• Preference for candidates with at least two years of relevant work experience.

Physical & Safety Requirements

• Capability to lift or move weights exceeding 50 pounds.
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, stoop, and carry out repetitive motions for extended durations.
• Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes at all times on the production floor.
• Strict adherence to all safety rules and protocols, including consistent use of required PPE.

Work Environment and Organizational Relationships

This role involves working in a non-air-conditioned environment that may include exposure to hazardous materials like paints, stains, solvents, as well as machinery, conveyors, spray booths, and drying racks. Effective communication across various organizational levels, including executives, team leaders, and production floor workers, is critical. The Sander reports directly to the Department Supervisor.
