Sampling Specialist

Overview

The Sampling Specialist role based within Abbott Nutrition Supply Chain in New Zealand focuses on performing laboratory sampling activities promptly and in compliance with set standards. This position supports key functions such as product release, quality assurance, handling technical inquiries, and addressing customer and sales needs.

Responsibilities

• Collect and prepare samples in line with approved procedures.
• Complete all sampling and testing activities timely to enable product release.
• Coordinate sampling requests across internal teams effectively.
• Ensure accurate labeling, documentation, and traceability of samples.
• Dispatch samples to laboratories punctually, maintaining appropriate conditions.
• Identify sampling-related issues promptly and assist in quality investigations.
• Maintain sampling areas and equipment to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Quality, Safety, and Environmental Responsibilities

• Participate in regular departmental meetings to foster ongoing feedback.
• Adhere to ISO standards by following all relevant quality policies and procedures to meet the organization's quality objectives.
• Comply rigorously with Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and practices to minimize risks to personnel and the environment.
• Consistently use and maintain provided personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Report any accidents or incidents within 24 hours through the designated system and inform management.

• Ensure all tasks comply with applicable legislation, employment, health & safety policies, and global standards.

Additional Information

• Accurate timesheet completion via the allocated system is mandatory.
• Completion of all required training within scheduled deadlines is obligatory.
• A valid driver’s license is necessary with occasional travel to other sites as business needs dictate.

Qualifications and Experience

• Prior experience in a laboratory environment, particularly with sample registration and laboratory systems, is preferred.
• Familiarity with food or dairy industry standards and quality systems is beneficial.
• Experience in the dairy or food sector, especially involving sampling, is an advantage.
• A science qualification, such as in Microbiology or Chemistry, is favorable.
• Effective collaboration skills with both internal and external stakeholders are essential.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities are required.
