Job description
About the Company
Join a well-established and growing supplier with a loyal customer base throughout Ireland. This close-knit organization embraces an entrepreneurial spirit and continues to expand its range of products and categories each year.
Role Overview
This Sales Manager position is designed to introduce consistency and commercial rigor within a scaling sales team. You will oversee daily team operations, influence broader business decisions as the representative of sales, and lead the way in how the team functions and how customers perceive the company.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage and lead a team of sales professionals, directing their account management efforts with hands-on support tailored to individual needs.
- Monitor team performance closely, addressing issues early to maintain consistent standards.
- Establish and oversee annual sales targets with a focus on margin, profitability, and not just sales volume.
- Track the performance of key accounts, product lines, and suppliers, taking quick corrective action if necessary.
- Collaborate with colleagues from other departments to make decisions on product assortment, including additions and removals.
- Develop and maintain direct face-to-face relationships with top customers and suppliers, representing the business at senior-level meetings.
- Conduct regular training sessions to improve product knowledge, sales techniques, and market awareness among team members.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the sales team rather than solely focusing on meeting numerical targets.
- Serve as the liaison between sales and other departments such as operations and commercial teams, resolving any conflicts with sound judgment.
- Provide insights gathered from customers and market trends to influence broader business strategies.
- Actively participate in the implementation of new systems and processes within the sales function.
- Lead by example, embodying the company’s standards and values in decision-making and leadership.
- Be a trusted figure within the team and wider organization, known for making reliable and sound decisions.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience managing and developing a sales team with a demonstrated ability to enhance their performance effectively.
- Strong commercial acumen, particularly in aspects of margin control, pricing strategies, and overall profitability.
- Ability to collaborate across various departments while maintaining firm but tactful negotiations when necessary.
- Open to professionals from related B2B fields who possess a genuine interest in this sector.
- Comfortable working primarily in the field with regular visits to the office for important meetings.
- Proficient in common business tools including Excel, presentation software, and familiar with standard e-commerce or procurement platforms.
- Possession of a full, clean driving license is a mandatory requirement.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual base salary ranging between €100,000 and €110,000, commensurate with experience.
- Performance bonuses tied to the success of the team and overall business outcomes.
- Coverage of travel expenses for both domestic and international trips.
- A senior leadership role with significant influence on commercial decisions as the company continues to grow.
