Job description

About Cliffside Cybersecurity

Cliffside Cybersecurity, established in Sydney in 2014, is a consulting and services provider focused on cybersecurity. We cater to mid-market and large Australian organizations across sectors such as energy, financial services, government, and critical infrastructure. Our approach prioritizes genuine client needs by conducting thorough assessments before recommending solutions, often advising clients against unnecessary expenses, which may reduce short-term revenue but builds trusted, lasting relationships.

Our expertise covers security strategy, architecture, compliance and auditing (including ISO 27001, Essential Eight, APRA CPS 234), cloud security, penetration testing, and managed services like Security Operations Center (SOC) monitoring. Senior professionals with auditing experience lead our projects. We maintain an ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified Information Security Management System.

Role Overview

The Sales Development Representative initiates client conversations that consultants take over to close. This is a full-time hybrid position based in Sydney, offering flexibility to work remotely, with part-time options available for qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify mid to large Australian companies within energy, finance, infrastructure, and education sectors.
  • Conduct outreach through phone calls, emails, and LinkedIn; nurture promising leads and discard non-viable ones.
  • Schedule discovery meetings for senior consultants ensuring the CRM is maintained accurately for team use.
  • Collaborate with consultants to thoroughly understand services and create messaging that authentically communicates our offerings.
  • Monitor market movements, provide feedback, and contribute to process improvements rather than repeating ineffective routines.

This role carries clear performance measures, including weekly activity goals and monthly targets for qualified discovery meetings that translate into tangible business opportunities, with commission tied to closed deals.

Transparency about targets is emphasized from the start, and honesty about feasibility is expected. We do not seek candidates who merely read scripts or artificially create urgency; pipelines must withstand scrutiny by experienced prospects such as CISOs.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in B2B prospecting and qualification, with sound judgement to distinguish genuine opportunities from weak prospects.
  • Ability to meet activity and pipeline targets with openness to address potential shortfalls proactively.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders, adept in discovery calls, handling objections, and building rapport.
  • Innate business development skills including segment identification, campaign support, and crafting audience-appropriate outreach alongside consultants.
  • Familiarity with CRM and sales enablement platforms, with disciplined recording of activities and outcomes.
  • A keen interest in cybersecurity, technology services, or regulated B2B professional services; technical expertise is not mandatory initially but willingness to learn is crucial.
  • Self-driven with the capability to perform effectively in a hybrid, unsupervised environment.
  • Educational background in business, marketing, or communications is advantageous. Prior experience as an SDR in technology or B2B sectors is valued but being straightforward and sincere is paramount.
