Job Overview

This position involves hands-on roofing work at a physical location in Calgary, Alberta. Candidates must have a minimum of secondary education or equivalent experience and possess between one and two years of relevant experience. Work is carried out in an outdoor environment characterized by noise and dust.

Qualifications

• Secondary school graduation or comparable experience.
• Experience ranging from 1 to less than 2 years in roofing or related tasks.

Work Environment

• On-site presence required; no remote work possible.
• Exposure to noisy and dusty outdoor surroundings.

Key Responsibilities

• Installation of built-up roofing using materials such as asphalt saturated felts, hot asphalt, and gravel.
• Installation or replacement of asphalt shingles, wood shingles, shakes, and masonry or baked clay roofing tiles on sloped roofs.
• Installation of single-ply roofing systems with waterproof sheet materials including modified plastics, elastomeric, or other asphalt-based compositions.
• Repair and replacement of shingles, shakes, and single-ply roofing systems on sloped roofs.
• Installation and repair of metal roofs using both hand and power tools.
• Installation of sheet metal flashings to ensure waterproof sealing.
• Estimating costs and materials required for roofing projects.
• Erection and installation of scaffolding, falsework, and other working platforms necessary for the job.
