About the Role

Higgins, a prominent roading and civil infrastructure company in New Zealand, is seeking a dedicated and dependable Roadmarking Assistant to join their Wellington team. This position involves supporting road and pavement marking services across the Wellington region.

This role serves as a valuable entry or growth opportunity within the civil construction sector, working side by side with skilled Roadmarking Operators on a variety of road, highway, and infrastructure projects.

Primarily a night shift role (around 85% of work occurs overnight), this scheduling helps ensure project safety and efficiency while reducing inconvenience for road users. Flexibility to work night shifts is critical, with occasional daytime and weekend shifts as required for operational support.

The role is a permanent, full-time position providing guaranteed working hours, continual training, and pathways for career advancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in applying road and pavement markings accurately.
  • Prepare materials, tools, and vehicles daily for operational tasks.
  • Help set up and dismantle work sites efficiently.
  • Support traffic management duties as needed.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of vehicles, machinery, and equipment.
  • Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency in all tasks.
  • Collaborate closely with Roadmarking Operators and Supervisors.
  • Undertake general labor tasks as necessary.
  • Work mostly night shifts with occasional day and weekend commitments.
  • Contribute positively to a safe and supportive team environment.

Applicant Requirements

  • Possession of a full Class 1 Driver Licence is required.
  • Willingness and ability to work regular night shifts.
  • Strong dedication to health and safety standards.
  • Good physical condition suitable for manual outdoor tasks.
  • Capability to work effectively in varying weather conditions.
  • Positive attitude with eagerness to learn and grow.
  • Reliable, adaptable, and hardworking.
  • Experience in roadmarking, civil construction, roading, or infrastructure is beneficial but not mandatory.
