About Stripe
Stripe offers a financial infrastructure platform that supports businesses globally, from large enterprises to emerging startups, enabling them to accept payments, increase revenue, and explore new opportunities. The company's goal is to boost the internet's GDP by expanding global economic access.
About the APAC Risk Team
This team focuses on the responsible launch and growth of Stripe's products in the APAC region. Collaborating with global Product, Partnerships, and Risk teams, they identify risks early, establish controls, and streamline risk decision-making at scale.
Role Overview
As a Risk Strategist, you will be instrumental in ensuring the safe introduction of Local Payment Methods (LPMs) and other products as part of Stripe's expansion. Your role involves identifying and managing risk across new product initiatives and enhancing workflow scalability through agent-based processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Pinpoint risks associated with new products, modifications, and LPM initiatives and convert these into clear, actionable requirements and controls for collaborative teams.
- Advance and automate risk-related workflows using AI, data analysis, and agent-driven solutions to reduce manual effort and create scalable processes.
- Develop risk strategies and operational methodologies for product launches, including risk assessment, decision documentation, and monitoring.
- Effectively communicate complex risk topics to diverse audiences, providing practical recommendations to foster responsible product development.
- Establish metrics to monitor risk exposure, control efficacy, and operational performance.
- Forge robust partnerships across Risk and Product teams to handle trade-offs and uncertainties.
- Expand knowledge to cover related risk domains such as fraud over time.
Candidate Profile
You excel in ambiguous settings where product and risk frameworks are evolving. Your analytical abilities allow you to structure complex risk issues and collaborate with technical teams to implement scalable solutions. You also strive to enhance how risk work is conducted, aiming for automation and consistency.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 5 years' experience in risk management, financial services, fintech, product strategy, or data-related roles.
- Proven collaboration with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Data Science, Operations, or Partnerships.
- Strong analytical reasoning to simplify complex data into clear next steps.
- Interest and experience in creating automated tools and agent-based workflow improvements.
- Competence in utilizing data for problem investigation, performance assessment, and decision-making.
- Excellent communication skills capable of aligning diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience assessing risk for new products, launches, or significant changes.
- Background in payments, product or platform risk, fraud, or financial crime prevention.
- Familiarity with agentic workflows and AI tools for process simplification.
- Skills in SQL, data analysis, data science methods, or operations tools development.
- Technical collaboration for defining requirements and enhancing systems or processes.
- Knowledge in risk-control design, monitoring, and policy formulation.
Workplace Expectations
Employees based in office-designated Stripe locations are generally required to spend at least half their working time on-site monthly, though specific requirements differ by team and role to balance in-person collaboration with flexibility.
Compensation and Benefits
This role’s salary range for the Singapore location is between SGD 151,200 and SGD 226,800 annually. Variations may occur for other locations, and the range corresponds to several career levels. Additional benefits may include equity, bonuses, retirement plans, health care, and wellness stipends, with more details provided during the interview.
