Role Purpose

The Risk Officer will be accountable for designing, executing, and overseeing the risk management framework tailored to Apex's clients. Serving as a vital second line of defense, the role ensures that operational, regulatory, technological, cyber, conduct, and third-party risks are effectively recognized, controlled, and communicated.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and continuously update the Enterprise Risk Management framework, including the Risk Appetite Statement and Key Risk Indicators for Apex’s clients.
  • Manage and revise risk-related policies, procedural documents, and governance materials.
  • Maintain the comprehensive Risk Register encompassing operational, regulatory, conduct, technology, and third-party risk categories.
  • Lead risk oversight activities, including detailed portfolio analyses.
  • Deliver risk reports and insights to senior leadership, board members, and committees.
  • Evaluate risks associated with new products, digital assets, IT infrastructure, and cybersecurity for Apex Clients.
  • Oversee third-party and outsourcing risk management processes, including due diligence and ongoing monitoring.
  • Manage incident responses, root cause analyses, and implement control enhancements.
  • Collaborate closely with Compliance and MLRO teams to ensure alignment with regulatory and anti-financial crime responsibilities.
  • Assist with regulatory communications and maintain regulator-ready risk documentation.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience handling risk management in alternative asset management sectors.
  • Familiarity with CAT 3C regulated entities.
  • Knowledge of ADGM/FSRA regulations and established professional relationships within these authorities.
  • Between 5 to 10 years of experience in risk management roles within financial services.
  • Strong competence in managing operational, conduct, regulatory risks, and governance frameworks.
  • Experience in regulated environments especially within ADGM/FSRA and DIFC jurisdictions is highly desirable.
  • Educational background in Finance or relevant Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, or CFA preferred.
