Job description

Position Overview

We are looking for a seasoned and analytical Risk Manager to become a vital part of our Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team. This position involves identifying, evaluating, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with underwriting, claims, investments, and operational areas.

In collaboration with executive leadership and department heads, you will uphold a strong risk management framework, ensure compliance with regulations, and nurture a risk-aware environment throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and sustain the company’s ERM framework along with defining risk appetite statements.
  • Perform ongoing risk assessments across all lines of business, such as Property & Casualty, Life & Health, and Reinsurance.
  • Analyze underwriting criteria, claims exposure, concentration of risks, and the investment portfolio.
  • Ensure adherence to insurance regulatory standards, risk governance practices, and capital requirements including ORSA and Solvency II.
  • Prepare executive-level risk reports and presentations directed at the Board of Directors, Risk Committee, and regulatory agencies.
  • Manage and update the corporate Risk Register, monitoring key risk indicators (KRIs) and mitigation actions.
  • Collaborate with actuarial and finance teams to conduct stress testing, scenario analysis, and loss modeling for emerging risks such as climate change, cyber threats, and economic shifts.
  • Keep abreast of market trends, exposure to catastrophe risks, and evaluate reinsurance coverage adequacy.
  • Provide strategic risk guidance on new insurance products, partnerships, and significant technological system implementations.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis for operational risk incidents and control breakdowns, recommending remedial measures.
  • Foster an organization-wide risk awareness culture by delivering training and continuous support to business units.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Actuarial Science, Finance, Business Administration, or a related quantitative discipline; a Master’s degree is advantageous.
  • Between 5 to 8+ years of cumulative experience in risk management, actuarial science, or financial risk analysis within the insurance or banking sectors.
  • Comprehensive expertise in insurance balance sheets, underwriting risks, reserving processes, and managing investment risk.
  • Proficiency in risk modeling and data analysis utilizing Excel, SQL, Python or R, and familiarity with ERM software platforms.
  • Strong analytical thinking to transform complex datasets into pragmatic risk insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of simplifying technical risk topics for non-expert audiences.
  • Proven collaboration skills to interface effectively with various departments.
  • Strategic mindset to align risk management operations with business objectives and growth plans.
