About the Employer and Role
Our client operates a chain of registered pharmacy outlets located in Kallangur, Queensland. They are currently looking to appoint a full-time registered Retail Pharmacist for their Kallangur location, offering an annual salary between 82000 and 103100 AUD plus superannuation.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering excellent pharmacy services encompassing the dispensing of prescribed medications, patient counselling, health education, and primary healthcare support.
- Collaborating closely with general practitioners, allied health professionals, healthcare providers, and the community to provide patient-centred care.
- Dispensing prescriptions in strict accordance with the Pharmacy Board of Australia and National Health Act standards, including counselling on prescription medicines, supplying Pharmacist Only Medicines, and supervising the provision of Pharmacy Medicines and health products.
- Delegating routine dispensing tasks to dispensary assistants as appropriate.
- Offering extensive pharmacy advice regarding medication usage and conducting services such as home medicine reviews, dose administration aids, opioid substitution therapy, disease management, and adherence support.
- Maintaining high standards of customer service ensuring all duties are completed competently and efficiently.
- Ensuring patient safety and optimizing medication use through documented clinical interventions using GuildCare software, and intervening to prevent errors.
- Providing staged supply services in response to requests from prescribers or patients following relevant guidelines.
- Completing dispensing activities in line with Health Insurance Commission (HIC) standards, including preparation of PBS and Medicare claims.
- Reporting any errors, discrepancies, or breaches of ethics encountered during pharmacy operations.
- Managing dispensary stock by checking expiration dates, rotating inventory, and monitoring storage conditions such as refrigeration temperatures.
- Overseeing the ordering and receiving of stock according to internal protocols.
- Continuously updating professional knowledge regarding pharmaceutical products, including their uses, dosages, side effects, and complementary therapies.
- Keeping abreast of legislative requirements to maintain compliance with the Pharmacy Practice Act 2004, Occupational Health and Safety regulations, and Quality Care Pharmacy Program (QCPP) standards.
- Maintaining accurate prescription records and controlling the dispensing of controlled substances carefully.
- Ensuring proper storage and preservation of sensitive medications such as vaccines.
- Supervising and coordinating the activities of Pharmacy Technicians, interns, and Pharmacy Sales Assistants.
- Supplying non-prescription medicines and providing diagnostic and therapeutic advice.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Successful completion of a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree.
- Current general registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Minimum three years of experience performing similar responsibilities in a retail pharmacy setting.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping.
- Experience thriving in fast-paced environments.
- Capability to work independently and manage pressure effectively.
- Proven initiative, ability to contribute ideas, and manage projects or tasks.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team to support operations and foster positive working relationships.
- Competence in planning and organizing oneself and others to meet deadlines and targets.
- At least three years’ experience with pharmacy dispensing software and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- At least three years’ background in delivering excellent customer service and pharmaceutical care.
