Company Overview
Land Air Sea Space specialises in designing and manufacturing electrical interconnecting systems, including cable assemblies and wired enclosures. Their operations require precise engineering documentation to ensure high-quality and efficient production processes.
Position Summary
They are searching for a full-time Draftsperson (2D CAD) to join their team at their location in Cromer, NSW. This role offers an annual salary of $85,000 plus superannuation.
Key Duties
- Create precise 2D CAD drawings and technical documents essential for manufacturing cable assemblies and wired enclosures.
- Understand and interpret customer specifications, drawings, and engineering directives to prepare clear, production-ready documentation.
- Maintain and update technical drawings, wiring schematics, layouts, and related engineering documentation regularly.
- Update drawings and documents to include design changes approved internally or requested by customers.
- Ensure documentation accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to ensure drawings fit manufacturing needs.
- Deliver detailed production documentation to enhance assembly efficiency and reduce errors.
- Provide support in resolving drawing-related issues that arise during production and implement necessary engineering updates.
- Support prototype builds, initial assemblies, and validation activities when needed.
- Communicate with engineers, manufacturing staff, and customers to clarify technical drawing requirements.
- Address engineering inquiries and offer technical assistance throughout the manufacturing cycle.
- Maintain clear communication within internal teams to meet project deadlines.
- Identify and recommend improvements to drawing standards, documentation methods, and overall engineering efficiency.
- Contribute to engineering document control, quality initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.
- Promote engineering methods supporting a 'right first time' manufacturing philosophy.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor's qualification in Drafting, Engineering, CAD Design, or related fields.
- Minimum of three years' experience in 2D CAD drafting or analogous drafting positions.
- Proficient with AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software for at least three years.
- Proven capability in generating technical drawings and engineering documentation for at least three years.
- Expertise in interpreting technical drawings, customer specs, and engineering requirements over a minimum three-year period.
- Experience working within a manufacturing or engineering setting for at least three years.
- Competence in creating and updating wiring schematics, layouts, and complementary technical documentation for three years or more.
- Excellent attention to detail ensuring accuracy in production documentation preparation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills fostering teamwork.
- Ability to cooperate effectively with Engineering and Production teams.
- Capability to handle various assignments and deliver documentation on schedule.
- Dedication to quality, ongoing improvements, and a 'right first time' mindset.
