Retail Janitorial Associate

Overview

This full-time Retail Janitorial Associate position is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and upkeep of the retail facility. The role demands physical endurance to carry out various housekeeping duties and a keen eye to identify and report maintenance needs to management promptly.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the maintenance manager in executing all janitorial duties outlined in the scope of work.
• Complete housekeeping tasks and daily requests efficiently and on schedule.
• Foster a cooperative and positive work atmosphere within the team.
• Perform a variety of cleaning tasks including restrooms, breakrooms, offices, sweeping, mopping, glass/window cleaning, dusting, vacuuming, and carpet extraction.
• Manage trash removal and maintain all waste receptacles.
• Operate the floor scrubber equipment every day.
• Monitor and maintain inventory levels of cleaning supplies, paper products, and chemicals.
• Inspect housekeeping equipment regularly, reporting any faults and coordinating repairs with the Maintenance Manager.
• Adhere to high appearance and cleaning standards, including the Grand Opening Look Daily (GOLD standards).
• Communicate daily with the maintenance manager to highlight potential improvements or projects.
• Follow scheduled cleaning frequencies, including daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual tasks.
• Comply with all safety protocols and risk management policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum educational requirement: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous janitorial experience preferred.
• Strong customer service focus with polite, engaging, and courteous demeanor.
• Effective time management and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain professional relationships with management, coworkers, and customers.
• Clear and friendly communication skills.

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to speak and listen attentively.
• Routine standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching.
• Regularly operate heavy machinery and power tools; occasional use of ladders, stairs, ramps.
• Capable of lifting weights up to 75 pounds.
• Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting hourly wage ranges from $18.00 to $20.75.
