Retail Area Support Officer

Role Overview

This position requires a highly adaptable Mobile Retail Security Officer to provide security services across multiple supermarket locations in Perth. The role demands flexibility to move between sites, varying shift patterns as per operational needs, and holding a valid SIA Licence.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible security presence to deter theft, anti-social behaviour, and other retail-related incidents.
• Perform consistent patrols throughout shop floors, entry points, and surrounding perimeters.
• Operate and monitor CCTV systems to detect suspicious behavior in real-time.
• Respond promptly and efficiently to alarms, emergencies, and incidents.
• Conduct searches adhering to company policies and legal regulations.
• Collaborate closely with store management and local teams to support loss prevention and identify risks.
• Document incidents accurately and submit reports in a timely fashion.
• Provide courteous and professional assistance to customers, including handling inquiries.
• Defuse challenging situations using calm and safe intervention techniques.
• Ensure strict compliance with health and safety, legal requirements, and client-specific protocols.
• Travel among assigned locations as needed to assist broader security operations.

Candidate Requirements

• Must possess the right to work in the UK and be able to clear enhanced DBS and BS7858 security checks.
• Hold a valid SIA Licence (Door Supervisor or Security Guarding) with relevant security experience.
• Prior experience in retail security or customer-oriented roles is preferred.
• Strong observational skills and sound decision-making ability.
• Comfortable managing confrontational and conflict scenarios confidently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrate a reliable, proactive, and professional approach to duties.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts across multiple locations including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
