Retail Architect

Role Overview

The Retail Architect will be part of the Retail Delivery Design Team in Dubai, focusing on scrutinizing architectural designs submitted to the Design Review Team and generating precise Lease Outline Drawings (LODs). This role emphasizes adherence to retail asset-specific design standards and involves detailed examination of preliminary and comprehensive drawings under the oversight of the Design Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain up-to-date professional knowledge to support accurate Design Review and LOD production.
• Thoroughly study and understand the Design Criteria Manual, noting any inconsistencies based on expertise.
• Comprehend the review procedures for each development and Vindico Retail’s scope of work.
• Conduct onsite visits to familiarize with base building environments.
• Stay informed on various municipality building codes to ensure submissions comply with standards across assets.
• Review multiple project documents including shell building construction documents, tenant and technical design criteria, contractor rules and tenant lease work details.
• Create LODs independently, ensuring high accuracy of included details.
• Analyze shell and core drawings attentively to identify appropriate design details according to unit location and type.
• Employ attention to detail in design reviews to provide consistent feedback to stakeholders.
• Use sufficient time to fully comprehend architectural submissions and assess them against prescribed criteria.
• Ensure adherence to the development’s Design Criteria throughout the review unless otherwise directed by the Design Manager.
• Collaborate with tenants, leasing, legal, marketing, and project teams as needed for drawing coordination.
• Perform site inspections to verify construction matches approved designs and prepare snag reports when necessary.
• Communicate clearly in annotations or sketches for stakeholder understanding.
• Maintain positive, cooperative communication with project teams, fostering collaboration in the design review process.
• Participate in regular team meetings as called by the Design Manager for project coordination.
• Deliver Design Review and LOD tasks within assigned deadlines.
• Review complete architectural submissions against project documentation promptly.
• Produce LODs based on the latest base build drawings within the designated timeframe.
• Document all design review processes thoroughly, including checklists and comment sheets, submitting them appropriately.
• Update and maintain reports reflecting the current status of all projects.

Authority and Compliance

The Retail Architect must comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards, with any changes requiring approval. Consultation with the direct manager is required for clarity on procedures, policies, or processes.
