Role Overview
We are seeking a Response Operator to join our Manawatu team. In this role, you will serve as a versatile maintenance expert skilled in addressing various repair and upkeep tasks. Responsibilities include responding to daily service calls to fix council assets such as installing bollards, resolving irrigation and plumbing blockages in public restrooms, and placing signage in parks.
Key Duties
- Perform minor constructions, landscaping, and ongoing facilities maintenance.
- Handle urgent callouts, including occasional weekend work as needed.
Candidate Profile and Skills
- Experience in outdoor roles involving construction, plumbing, or related trades.
- The ability to read building plans, and knowledge of both hard and soft landscaping, plumbing troubleshooting, irrigation systems, and machinery operation.
- Possession of a current full Class 1 driver’s license with manual transmission driving capability.
- Demonstrated competence to independently plan and manage projects, maintaining communication with clients.
- Self-driven, hardworking, and capable of operating autonomously, with team support available for larger jobs.
- Physically robust to perform lifting and physically demanding tasks.
- A commitment to thorough, high-quality workmanship that supports community wellbeing.
