Job Overview
The Resident Engineer will be responsible for on-site installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and technical support related to Multi-Function Printers (MFPs), printers, scanners, and associated document management hardware. This role includes diagnosing both hardware and software issues, performing corrective and preventive maintenance, replacing faulty parts, installing firmware/software, and configuring equipment to meet client specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, set up, commission, and test new MFPs and printers at customer premises.
- Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance to ensure optimal functioning.
- Identify and resolve hardware and software malfunctions promptly.
- Analyze error codes and diagnostics to determine underlying causes.
- Repair or replace defective components and assemblies efficiently.
- Install and update device firmware, drivers, and embedded software as required.
- Respond to breakdown and service calls ensuring timely fixes in line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Perform routine inspections to predict and prevent potential failures.
- Manage assigned spare parts, consumables, tools, and equipment responsibly.
- Record part replacements and service activities accurately using service management systems.
- Complete and submit necessary documentation such as service reports, maintenance checklists, and meter readings.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in servicing printers, MFPs, copiers, scanners, with skills in basic network troubleshooting and Managed Print Services (MPS) software.
Technical Skills
- In-depth knowledge of MFP and printer hardware and functionality.
- Understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, network printing, and fundamental network troubleshooting procedures.
- Familiarity with Windows printing environments and printer driver installations.
Performance Metrics and Accountability
- Reduce unnecessary repairs and part replacements via effective diagnostics and preventive measures.
- Meet established Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Maintain accurate and thorough service documentation.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through quality service delivery.
