About ANGEL and Role Overview
The Alibaba-NTU Global e-Sustainability CorpLab (ANGEL) is a strategic collaboration between Alibaba Group and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), supported by the Singapore RIE2025 Fund. ANGEL focuses on pioneering impactful green digital technologies aimed at advancing global sustainability. Its initiatives closely support Singapore’s national efforts, including the Singapore Green Plan 2030 and the Smart Nation Initiative, by fostering sustainable, equitable digital solutions that reduce carbon footprints and promote eco-friendly lifestyles.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead cutting-edge research on Green AI, emphasizing efficient training and inference processes for foundational and large language AI models.
- Design and implement scalable AI systems tailored for deployment on hardware with limited computational resources.
- Innovate AI technologies with applications directed toward sustainability challenges.
- Disseminate research outcomes through publications in premier AI conferences and scholarly journals.
- Collaborate effectively with both internal teams and external partners to roll out innovative Green AI advancements.
- Guide junior researchers and actively contribute to drafting research proposals and shaping strategic research directions.
Candidate Qualifications
- PhD degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, or a closely related field.
- Proven expertise with large language models (LLMs), advanced natural language processing techniques, efficient deep learning methodologies, and AI model optimization.
- Research experience focused on sustainable computing, energy-efficient machine learning, or Green AI technology development.
- Strong track record of publications in reputable AI journals and top-tier international conferences.
- Proficiency in programming languages and frameworks such as Python, PyTorch, and Hugging Face.
- Capability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams.
