Job description
Position Overview
The Department of Design at the College of Design and Engineering, National University of Singapore, is inviting applications for a Research Fellow specializing in Computational Textiles and Human-Computer Interaction. This full-time onsite role is based at the Kent Ridge Campus and seeks candidates passionate about pioneering intelligent, computational, and robotic textile innovations.
Research Scope
The successful candidate will engage in interdisciplinary research fusing material science, digital fabrication, hardware development, and computational design. Their work will enhance smart textile technologies and wearable systems poised for diverse fields such as health and wellness, interactive media, robotics, fashion, immersive environments, and human-computer interfaces. Collaboration across art, design, science, and engineering domains is key, with responsibilities spanning the creation of advanced prototypes, installations, performances, and novel innovations that integrate human experience with materials, machines, and environments on multiple scales.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in a pertinent field such as computer science, mechanical engineering, material science, industrial design, or media arts. A robust portfolio and a solid publication track record in areas related to soft technologies, wearable computing, and human-computer interaction are essential.
