Role Summary
We are seeking a Research Chemist focused on the synthesis and development of organic compounds. The role involves synthesizing and scaling small organic molecules and intermediates from milligram to multikilogram quantities, planning synthesis strategies through retrosynthesis and literature evaluation, and optimizing chemical and physical processes for advanced intermediates and finished products.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct synthesis and scale-up of small organic molecules, intermediates, and active pharmaceutical or agrochemical ingredients from milligram to multikilogram scale.
- Plan synthetic routes including retrosynthesis analysis and conduct thorough literature reviews to optimize processes.
- Develop and optimize processes for the production of advanced intermediates and final products focusing on chemical and physical parameters.
- Design, evaluate, and document experimental procedures and prepare technical transfer documentation such as laboratory development reports.
- Support toll manufacturing activities and coordinate closely with cross-functional teams including research, analytical, and safety departments.
- Ensure compliance with BASF's Environmental Health and Safety standards, human resource policies, and established work practices.
Candidate Profile
- Postgraduate degree (M.Sc.) in Organic Chemistry with solid theoretical and practical knowledge of organic synthetic methods.
- Between 5 and 8 years' experience as a chemist within the chemical, pharmaceutical, or agrochemical industries.
- Strong communication and technical competencies essential to successfully perform the role.

The position is based at BASF's Innovation Campus headquarters located in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
