Job description
About the Role
We are seeking Research Associates to join the ASEAN Equity Research team based in Singapore. You will collaborate closely with Analysts covering a diverse portfolio of sectors including Internet, Consumer, Healthcare, Financials, Industrials, and Cyclicals in the region. Our Research division delivers integrated, timely analysis of companies, sectors, markets, and economies to support clients' critical decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain earnings models and financial analyses, leveraging automation and AI tools for efficiency while applying critical judgment to validate outputs and identify when manual verification or bespoke modeling is required.
- Monitor and analyze global sector news—not just regional developments—rapidly assessing impacts for companies and investment themes. Employ methods beyond standard searches, such as channel checks, expert interviews, store visits, and industry networking.
- Generate unique, non-consensus insights on companies, sectors, or trends and clearly communicate these through well-structured research reports.
- Answer internal and external data and analytical inquiries promptly and accurately, often under tight deadlines.
- Assist Analysts with client-related efforts including marketing materials preparation, meeting briefings, and gradually increasing direct client engagement.
- Apply editorial discretion to ensure research reports maintain analytical depth and present clear viewpoints.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Preferably have at least one year of experience in equity research or relevant sectors such as buy-side roles, consulting, or operational positions.
- Strong foundation in financial modeling and accounting principles, comfortable employing research productivity tools like Excel, Python, AI-assisted technologies, Bloomberg, FactSet, and alternative data sources.
- Demonstrate proactivity by independently identifying queries and areas for further investigation without needing explicit instructions.
- Exhibit rapid analytical thinking to adapt swiftly to breaking news, financial results, and evolving market narratives.
- Able to work efficiently under pressure, meeting strict deadlines without compromising accuracy.
- Willing and capable of collaborating with global teams across different time zones, including US markets, which may require flexible working hours beyond the Singapore standard.
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and cultural awareness to effectively engage within a diverse international team.
