Research and Insights Advisor

About the Role

The Communication and Engagement Unit at Hamilton City Council plays a pivotal role in connecting the community with the Council's work, ensuring residents are well-informed and actively involved in our local decision-making. We are currently looking to employ a Research and Insights Advisor to join our team in Hamilton. Partnering closely with the Senior Research and Insights Advisor and the Research and Insights Coordinator, you will manage community consultation and engagement activities across the organisation.

Main Responsibilities

• Champion the application of research and insights to enhance understanding of customer, community, and stakeholder views and perceptions.
• Collaborate with business owners and engagement advisors to design research approaches for community surveys, advising on the best survey platforms.
• Conduct community engagement research employing diverse tools and technologies.
• Analyse survey results, including free-text data, and produce detailed insights reports for stakeholders.
• Maintain and update interactive dashboards showcasing demographic and survey data for organisational use.
• Disseminate insights gathered from community wellbeing surveys through Council platforms.
• Support additional special projects as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possess a degree or equivalent qualification relevant to the field.
• At least one year of experience in a research and insights capacity or similar roles.
• Strong written and oral communication abilities.
• Experience working effectively with diverse stakeholders, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills.
• Proven project management capabilities, prominently managing multiple projects from inception to completion.
• Knowledge of local government operations is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is approximately NZD 85,000 to 90,000 annually, dependent on skills and experience. The position is full-time but may be adapted to reduced hours for suitable candidates.
