Representative - Outside Sales

Job Overview

As an Outside Sales Representative at Wesco, you will focus on expanding new business and managing current customer accounts to boost sales and profit margins of Wesco’s products and services. The role primarily involves direct, face-to-face selling and comprehensive account management to meet sales targets. You will engage with various organizational levels within customer companies, including technical teams, operations, supply chain, and executive leadership. Responsibilities include crafting and delivering sales bids, presentations, proposals, and product demonstrations.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate customer requirements, recommending suitable products or solutions, and ensuring the sales process runs smoothly.
• Implement and develop customer account plans created with management collaboration.
• Enhance billing margins by leveraging value-added services, marketing initiatives, and supplier collaborations.
• Seek out prospective clients through cold calls and referrals.
• Engage with customers and leads to understand their needs and propose relevant products or services accordingly.
• Conduct product or service demonstrations tailored to customer needs.
• Maintain customer satisfaction via ongoing communication and efficient handling of post-sale issues.
• Stay connected with past and current customers to inform them about product updates, new services, and relevant enhancements.
• Use sales management tools for planning and tracking sales and supplier opportunities.
• Enhance knowledge of Wesco’s offerings and supplier products through training.
• Foster supplier relations, including joint sales calls.
• Provide quotations independently or with sales support assistance.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving history.
• Minimum education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Experience in sales is essential, with previous outside sales experience favored.
• At least two years in the industry is preferred.
• Willingness and ability to travel to clients and suppliers as needed.
• Adaptability to a flexible schedule and occasional overnight trips.
• Strong capabilities in sales and negotiation.
• Proficient in developing and delivering presentations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
• Collaborative team player.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
• Knowledge of advertising and promotional sales techniques is advantageous.
• Prepared to travel between 50% and 75% of the time.

Working Environment

This position primarily operates within an office setting but requires travel to customer sites and warehouses. The job may involve extended periods of driving with frequent stops and starts, and exposure to varying outdoor weather conditions.
