Position Overview
The Regulatory Compliance Manager at ACE Money Transfer is responsible for integrating regulatory requirements into the daily operations across various business functions such as Product, Operations, Customer Service, Technology, Marketing, and the Agent Network. This role involves interpreting regulatory frameworks including the FCA Handbook, Payment Services Regulations 2017, Money Laundering Regulations 2017, and others to develop practical policies, procedures, and controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor updates and regulatory changes from the FCA and other relevant bodies, assessing their impact on products, service corridors, and customer experiences.
- Maintain and update a regulatory change log aligning new and amended rules with affected business sectors and oversee their practical implementation.
- Translate complex legal and regulatory text into actionable and clear requirements for business stakeholders.
- Serve as the regulatory compliance partner for specific business segments, embedding compliance measures into existing workflows instead of creating separate compliance steps.
- Collaborate with process owners to identify compliance gaps and apply proportional pragmatic solutions.
- Support the design of new products, processes, and journeys with compliance considerations integrated from inception.
- Create, review, and update compliance policies and procedures reflecting the latest regulatory requirements and operational practices.
- Ensure policies are fully operationalized by updating SOPs, system workflows, and training materials as regulations evolve.
- Review new products, marketing campaigns, and customer communications for compliance, including financial promotions and Consumer Duty standards, prior to market release.
- Develop and manage a risk-based Compliance Monitoring Plan focusing on relevant business areas and regulatory obligations, conducting periodic monitoring checks beyond formal assurance audits.
- Report monitoring outcomes to stakeholders, manage remediation processes, and ensure closure of identified compliance gaps.
- Design and deliver targeted regulatory training for various teams tailored to their specific risk profiles and responsibilities.
- Provide daily advisory support on regulatory inquiries, new initiatives, and complex cases to business stakeholders.
- Promote a culture of compliance by design throughout the organization rather than retroactive compliance.
- Track and report progress of compliance embedding initiatives to senior management, escalating issues as needed and coordinating corrective actions.
- Work in partnership with Compliance Assurance and Internal Audit functions to verify the effectiveness of embedded controls.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 5 to 7 years in regulatory compliance or related advisory roles within regulated financial services, preferably in payments, e-money, or money remittance.
- Demonstrable success embedding regulatory requirements into business operations and mitigating compliance risks.
- Strong expertise with FCA Handbook sections (SYSC, DISP, Principles for Businesses), Payment Services Regulations 2017, Money Laundering Regulations 2017.
- Familiarity with Consumer Duty and Vulnerable Customers guidance applicable to cross-border payment services.
- Proven ability to simplify complex regulations into clear, feasible compliance guidance.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influential communication skills across all seniority levels.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication; experience in creating and delivering compliance-related training is essential.
- Highly organized, self-driven, capable of managing multiple priorities and business relationships simultaneously.
- Experience in fintech or automated data-driven environments is advantageous.
- Background in developing and executing risk-based compliance monitoring frameworks within financial sectors.
