About the Role
AvantStay is a rapidly growing, tech-enabled hospitality brand specializing in unique group stays within the booming short-term rental (STR) market valued at over $100 billion. We are seeking a highly motivated Regulatory Affairs Coordinator to manage the process of obtaining and maintaining short-term rental permits globally. This role requires thorough research, meticulous document preparation, and efficient management of compliance-related operations within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately prepare, review, and submit permit applications for short-term rental properties ensuring adherence to local laws and regulations.
- Maintain detailed and current records of permits including renewal timing, approval conditions, and compliance statuses.
- Continuously monitor local zoning laws, municipal codes, and regulatory changes pertinent to STRs, providing updates to internal teams promptly.
- Build and sustain effective liaisons with municipal authorities to facilitate compliance with conditions of approval.
- Draft and review professional correspondence such as permit applications, regulatory updates, and compliance documentation.
- Identify potential compliance risks early and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
- Conduct thorough research of complex regulatory frameworks and synthesize clear guidance for internal stakeholders.
- Propose and implement process improvements to streamline permitting and compliance workflows.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to communicate government and municipal regulatory requirements supporting overall compliance.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- At least five years’ experience in a fast-paced or operational role, preferably within US-based companies; experience in regulatory compliance, permitting, legal fields, or the real estate/short-term rental sectors is advantageous.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills to anticipate challenges and proactively manage compliance risks.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Public Policy, Engineering, Urban Planning, or related discipline.
- Excellent command of English with the ability to produce precise and professional written and verbal communications.
- Strong organizational abilities, capable of handling multiple permit processes simultaneously under deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with analytical skills to interpret complicated regulations and ensure documentation accuracy.
- Proficient using technology platforms including Salesforce, Google Workspace, and project management tools like Asana or Jira.
- Self-driven and able to work independently in a remote setting with minimal supervision.
- Experienced in performing regulatory or legal research and translating findings effectively for non-expert teams.
