Job description

About the Role

Become a valued member of the allied health team at Early Start Australia, working collaboratively and supported by experienced leaders who understand the needs of children and their families. You will contribute meaningful assessments and therapies that foster growth and positive changes for children and young people across Australia while enjoying a flexible and supportive work environment to advance your career in your own way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct preparatory work for new client assessments using referrals and questionnaires
  • Administer standardised and informal psychological assessments such as WPPSI, WISC, WRAT, WRAML, ADOS, MIGDAS
  • Deliver prompt feedback to clients and families, confirming therapy requirements
  • Complete and dispatch assessment reports within two weeks
  • Provide client-focused assessment, counselling, and therapy services
  • Handle diverse caseloads, including clients with complex needs
  • Create, implement, review, and modify individual therapy plans
  • Offer services in clinics, homes, schools, and community environments
  • Work collaboratively with other allied health specialists to design specialised programs
  • Maintain strict confidentiality, privacy, and apply evidence-based practices
  • Conduct initial consultations and formulate goal-oriented therapy plans
  • Develop targeted, measurable interventions and detailed session plans
  • Recommend home and school activities and resources to support therapy
  • Regularly monitor progress, update goals, and prepare reviews and reports
  • Identify when referrals to other disciplines or group programs are necessary
  • Ensure clinical notes are completed within 24 hours
  • Submit timely and compliant reports to relevant stakeholders and funding bodies
  • Document any incidents or complaints as per requirements
  • Align therapy delivery with funding guidelines such as NDIS
  • Participate in supervision sessions, meetings, and ongoing professional growth activities
  • Adhere to registration standards, organizational policies, workplace health and safety, and child safety protocols

Qualifications and Compliance

  • Possess a relevant psychology qualification
  • Hold current registration with AHPRA and the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Complete NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Have a current driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Maintain a current Working with Children Check or equivalent vulnerable people screening relevant to the state
  • Possess a National Police Check clearance
  • Hold valid Accredited First Aid Certification

Skills and Experience

  • Proven track record in solution-focused therapy and early intervention approaches
  • Strong ability to tailor individualised services to meet unique client needs
  • Effective engagement with children, families, and external stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and organisational capabilities
  • Advanced observational and professional report writing skills
  • Comfortable working both autonomously in community settings and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams
