Overview

Join Whānau Āwhina Plunket as a Registered Nurse and play a pivotal role in ensuring children in their early years receive excellent care and support. This role is based in Dunedin, New Zealand, where you will work within the Otago team providing services across the Dunedin region with the option of part-time or full-time hours.

Role Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse, you will assess the growth and development of tamariki and serve as a trusted clinical advisor to whānau, helping them make informed choices about raising their children. Your work will involve building meaningful relationships with families, delivering culturally sensitive and personalized care, and making decisions that could profoundly influence the wellbeing of children through timely health promotion and referrals.

Working Environment

The role offers flexibility unlike traditional hospital or GP clinic nursing positions. You won’t be bound by strict 9-5 schedules or weekend/night shifts, although work may include holding clinics and home visits that sometimes extend beyond conventional hours. You’ll predominantly work independently, making autonomous decisions, but you will have a supportive team and a base clinic for connection and guidance.

Qualifications and Skills

• Must be a Registered Nurse with or able to obtain an Annual Practicing Certificate.
• Possess a valid, clean full New Zealand Driver's Licence.
• Willingness to complete a funded 12-month Post Graduate Certificate in Well Child Tamariki Ora.
• Vaccinator certification is desirable but not mandatory; training will be provided if needed.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary range from $66,222 ($33.51 per hour) to $94,842 ($48.00 per hour) depending on experience.
