Job description

Job Purpose

This position requires an experienced professional who can work independently with general guidance to resolve challenges requiring analytical skills. The role involves developing audit solutions, addressing escalated issues from junior auditors, and performing complex operational tasks such as industry research to benchmark revenues and preparing audit reports compliant with applicable guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuously review and analyze refund policies to ensure compliance with limits, risk authorizations, and ZATCA’s regulations and procedures.
  • Create and refine assessment templates and audit tools according to operational policies to support efficient customer refund requests analysis.
  • Stay informed on recent developments and tax practices across various sectors including business, insurance, telecommunications, and consumer goods to integrate into audit assessments.
  • Update manuals, eligibility criteria, legal requirements, and supporting documentation by taxpayer type, embedding these in computerized audit tools for streamlined evaluation.
  • Organize and prioritize refund requests by tax and industry type and dispatch them appropriately for audit review.
  • Examine refund applications thoroughly by validating legal and supporting documents prior to conducting assessments.
  • Collect data via desk audits; liaise with account managers, taxpayers, financial institutions, audit bureaus, and government bodies; collaborate with legal teams to verify application legitimacy.
  • Research multiple sources to gain a detailed understanding of taxpayers' business operations, structures, and jurisdictions.
  • Evaluate financial health, income statements, and revenue streams of taxpayers to determine suitable audit assessment methods.
  • Identify high-risk or potentially non-compliant declarations, addressing tax evasion risks in coordination with internal teams.
  • Summarize financial and legal findings against set eligibility and refund criteria to recommend approval or rejection aligned with policy.
  • Oversee the creation of audit reports including assessments that determine refund amounts using various methodologies.
  • Compile lists of compliant taxpayers approved for refunds and present these for internal committee approval to release payments.
  • Manage taxpayer objections and appeals ensuring effective coordination with legal departments to support dispute resolution with proper evidence and testimonies.
  • Maintain and update refund-related systems and archives to facilitate smooth data exchanges within the Authority and external agencies.
  • Prepare detailed audit reports outlining recommendations, conclusions, and supporting documentation for review and verification processes.

Educational Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or an equivalent field is mandatory.

Experience Required

Candidates should have at least 4 years of relevant professional experience in auditing or refund operations.
