About the Role

This role is part of the People, Performance, and Culture Group dedicated to advancing the Hamilton City Council's mission of becoming a leading community-focused organization. As a Recruitment Specialist, you will manage recruitment from start to finish, collaborating with hiring managers to attract, select, and onboard outstanding talent. You will act as a trusted advisor in the process, ensuring candidates experience professionalism and positivity throughout. Your role involves working closely with hiring managers on job approvals and descriptions, crafting compelling job postings, coordinating offer stages and onboarding, innovating recruitment sourcing strategies, building talent pipelines, participating in career fairs, and enhancing the Council's employer brand within the community.

You will be part of a close-knit, high-achieving Recruitment team within the broader HR Delivery group that values collaboration, supports each other, and celebrates successes while maintaining a strong commitment to excellent service for all stakeholders and applicants.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-end recruitment management working with hiring managers.
  • Develop and execute innovative sourcing strategies to attract talent.
  • Create engaging job advertisements and manage job approvals.
  • Coordinate offers, onboarding, and talent pipeline development.
  • Participate in careers expos and community brand promotion.
  • Ensure positive candidate experiences and serve as a recruitment advisor.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Recruitment experience (in-house, agency, or strong passion for recruitment).
  • Understanding of Local Government and Council operations.
  • Aspiring to develop expertise in strategic sourcing, recruitment technology, or process design.
  • Knowledge of employment branding and talent attraction.
  • Capability to think creatively, collaborate with integrity, and drive outcomes.
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Ability to support Council’s talent attraction and recruitment strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills across all organizational levels.
  • Adaptability, agility, and collaborative mindset.
  • Self-awareness centered on mindset as a performance foundation, with a focus on personal and others’ development.
  • Capacity to multitask and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • A strong desire and motivation to excel as a Recruitment Specialist and reliable advisor.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is approximately NZD 85,000 to 90,000, dependent on skills and experience.
