R&D Software Operating Manager - Eggplant Server

Position Overview

This role involves leading a dynamic engineering team focused on developing the latest offerings of our applications. The R&D Software Operating Manager will support and guide the Eggplant Server team located in Singapore, working closely with Product Management to define project scopes, influence technical decisions, and drive delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, customer-pleasing products efficiently with transparency and predictability.
• Encourage the team’s curiosity and innovation in designing and implementing product enhancements and new solutions.
• Serve as the scrum master and agile coach for the team.
• Build a high-performance team including developers, quality engineers, product owners, and UX designers by fostering professional growth, mentoring, managing performance, and hiring talent.
• Collaborate with leadership peers to identify dependencies and coordinate efforts to maximize the overall success of the Eggplant Server organization.
• Promote strong product ownership values within the team using an agile mindset.
• Partner with the Product Owner to establish a challenging yet achievable product roadmap and deliver consistently.
• Enhance the team's reputation through transparency and effective communication both within and outside the team.
• Maintain and refine product backlogs to create actionable roadmaps that align with strategic goals.
• Estimate effort required for features and technical debt improvements in collaboration with Technical Leads.
• Adjust sprint plans in response to urgent, customer-facing issues prioritized by the Product Owner.
• Monitor team velocity to support planning and assess release risks with product leadership.
• Facilitate daily standups and sprint retrospectives to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience with direct relevance to management or individual contributor roles.
• At least five years of experience in team management.

Required Skills & Experience

• Extensive understanding of software engineering principles.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming, microservices, design patterns, and coding best practices.
• Experience integrating AI technologies into the software development lifecycle.
• Excellent skills in software design, problem-solving, and architecture.
• Proficient with Agile, Lean, and Extreme Programming methodologies.
• Experience mentoring and coaching technical teams.
• Knowledge of Eggplant Test software is an advantage.

Additional Desirable Skills

• Experience working in product teams developing commercial off-the-shelf software for enterprise clients.
• Familiar with Jenkins or GitLab build pipeline tools.
• Docker container development experience.
• Expertise with continuous delivery practices.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform.
