Rate Maintenance Specialist

Role Overview

The Rate Maintenance Specialist is tasked with accurately managing and processing pricing projects related to Ocean rate retrieval. This role is vital for ensuring charges are applied correctly, updates are made promptly in the system, and full coordination with both internal teams and external partners is maintained to support billing precision and smooth operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage and process pricing projects linked to Ocean rate retrieval effectively.
• Execute filings in the AFLS system on time and in accordance with government regulations and company policies.
• Detect discrepancies in pricing data and initiate correction requests as needed.
• Ensure timely retrieval and application of all relevant rates to support filing deadlines.
• Maintain thorough documentation and audit trails for all filing activities to guarantee traceability and compliance.
• Handle queries related to pricing retrieval promptly and provide resolutions.
• Offer ad-hoc operational support and generate necessary reports to aid analysis, tracking, and decision-making processes.
• Collaborate closely with Global Supply Chain (GSC) and Revenue Management teams to align initiatives and support organizational goals.
• Focus on customer requirements and revenue outcomes with high attention to quality (100% accuracy required).
• Prioritize tasks efficiently and report daily team performance and issues to the Process Manager.
• Demonstrate flexibility by working in rotational shift patterns as required.

Qualifications and Skills

• Graduate in any discipline.
• Minimum of three years of experience in a similar role.
• Strong communication, process improvement, analytical, and persuasion skills.
• Ability to perform tasks under pressure and maintain a high sense of urgency.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to following predefined process designs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and presentation skills.
• Capability to anticipate and analyze challenges effectively.
• Basic understanding of commercial shipping processes and practical business operations.
• Expert knowledge of short- and long-term business dynamics within the shipping industry.
• Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end business processes and relevant pricing systems.
• Familiarity with price calculations, surcharge applications, additional costs, and booking requirements.
• Able to clearly communicate exceptions and alternative approaches to pricing, routing, and related matters to stakeholders.
• Proficient in using AFLS software for pricing activities.
• Knowledge of SPOT business logic, contract products, PMA, and ML.com platforms is advantageous.
• Familiarity with upstream and downstream processes to enhance collaboration.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to suggest improved solutions.
• Experience with data analytics tools such as SAPBI, Dataiku, Databricks is preferred.
• Proven track record in managing global transitions, ensuring governance and seamless project execution.
• Commitment to meeting agreed timelines with stakeholders.
• Ability to partner with interconnected processes and secure buy-in for complex initiatives.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving challenges.
• Proficiency across Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
