Job description

About the Role

The City of Joondalup is dedicated to delivering exceptional local government services and is internationally recognized for its innovative programs. We are seeking two motivated and enthusiastic Rangers who are passionate about community safety, regulatory enforcement, and excellent customer service. In this role, you will contribute significantly to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-managed city.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enforce local laws and regulations across a variety of areas including animal management, parking control, litter and verge maintenance, bushfire inspections, and beach closures.
  • Engage with the community to provide a visible presence and assist with resolving compliance issues promptly and professionally.
  • Support community safety initiatives by providing responsive and customer-focused services.
  • Work collaboratively under the guidance of the Senior Ranger and Lead Ranger, operating within a rotating roster.
  • Operate shifts between 7:00 AM and 8:30 PM, seven days a week.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Current Western Australia C Class Driver's Licence.
  • Provide First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011).
  • Regulatory Officer Compliance Skills Certificates (ROCS 1 and 2).
  • Traffic Management certification or willingness to obtain this within the first three months of employment.
  • Approved animal handling training.
  • Current National Police Clearance (less than 3 months old).

Essential Experience and Attributes

  • Proven ability to resolve conflicts and manage difficult situations effectively using strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant acts, regulations, local laws, and organizational policies.
  • Experience working in regulatory or compliance customer service environments.
  • Knowledge of domestic animal handling.
  • Strong awareness of workplace health and safety practices applicable to this role.

Additional Information

  • Salary range: $81,986 to $87,637 per annum, plus up to 15% superannuation (subject to conditions).
  • Permanent full-time position with the reference number 26-102.
