We are hiring a Ramp Services Trainer based at Auckland Airport, committed to safety and operational excellence.
Role Purpose
The Ramp Services Trainer’s main responsibility is to provide engaging, practical, and compliant training sessions for both new hires and existing ramp service personnel. This role plays a crucial part in building a competent frontline team that can safely and efficiently perform aircraft turnaround duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop an inclusive and supportive training environment that builds confidence and skill among employees.
- Conduct theory, practical, and on-the-job training for ramp services staff.
- Administer competency evaluations, practical assessments, buddy shifts, and refresher courses.
- Train and assess employees on ramp operations based on your qualifications and endorsements.
- Coach on safe aircraft turnaround processes, baggage and cargo handling, equipment usage, airside safety procedures, and operational standards.
- Support employees with eLearning module completion and ensure knowledge application in the field.
- Employ adult learning principles and facilitation methods suitable for diverse learning preferences and operational needs.
- Deliver training in a positive, inclusive way that encourages teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate and timely training records, assessments, and related administrative tasks.
- Lead training quality audits and reviews to find areas for enhancement.
- Collaborate with Ramp Services leadership to align training with current and future operational demands.
Safety, Security, and Compliance
- Ensure all training adheres strictly to aviation, airport, client, and company safety policies and standards.
- Promote safe working practices, including manual handling, airside vehicle operation, equipment safety, and aircraft turnaround safety.
- Incorporate Human Factors principles in all training and operational decision-making.
- Model the company’s values related to safety, security, integrity, inclusion, and equality.
- Support and foster a workplace free from bullying, harassment, discrimination, and unsafe behavior.
Candidate Profile
- Proven operational experience in airport Ramp Services, Ground Handling, or similar aviation roles.
- Good understanding of ramp operations, including aircraft turnaround, baggage and cargo processes, ground support equipment, and airside safety protocols.
- Experience in training delivery, coaching, buddying, or performing competency assessments in an operational setting.
- Ability to clearly communicate operational procedures and offer practical, constructive feedback.
- Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety as applicable to ramp work.
- Attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate training records and documentation.
- Effective communicator capable of fostering trust and credibility with staff and management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications.
- Dynamic, hands-on, and able to work efficiently in a fast-moving airport environment.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a commitment to leading by example.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and public holidays as needed.
