Role Overview

The position calls for a skilled Sonographer specializing in fetal medicine, who is responsible for performing detailed obstetric ultrasounds to monitor fetal growth, development, and overall well-being during pregnancy. This role collaborates closely with fetal medicine experts, obstetricians, and multidisciplinary teams to identify fetal anomalies early, monitor pregnancies at risk, and support prenatal diagnostic efforts. Using state-of-the-art ultrasound technology aligned with evidence-based protocols, the Sonographer contributes to optimal health outcomes for both mother and fetus, while providing compassionate and culturally sensitive care to patients and their families.

Key Duties

• Conduct comprehensive fetal and obstetric ultrasound examinations across all trimesters, including first trimester nuchal translucency and anomaly scans.
• Evaluate fetal growth parameters, anatomy, and viability consistently throughout pregnancy.
• Perform specialized fetal assessments such as fetal echocardiography and Doppler flow studies.
• Detect and document fetal abnormalities, congenital defects, and pregnancy-associated complications.
• Provide serial ultrasound monitoring for pregnancies categorized as high-risk.
• Accurately measure and record fetal biometric data and ultrasound findings.
• Produce detailed ultrasound reports and effectively communicate critical findings to referring physicians or fetal medicine consultants.
• Assist with invasive prenatal procedures like amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling (CVS) by providing real-time ultrasound guidance.
• Ensure operational upkeep, calibration, and quality assurance of ultrasound equipment.
• Maintain meticulous patient and imaging records in compliance with institutional and regulatory frameworks.
• Offer clear explanations to patients regarding ultrasound procedures while supporting their emotional needs during assessments.
• Adhere to safety standards relating to radiation, infection control, patient confidentiality, and professional ethics.
• Engage in multidisciplinary case discussions for complex fetal conditions.
• Keep abreast of emerging fetal imaging advancements, practice guidelines, and professional development opportunities.
• Contribute to departmental clinical audits, research, and quality enhancement projects.
• Consistently provide care characterized by compassion, respect, and cultural awareness.

Qualifications

• Possess a Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Radiography, Medical Imaging, or a closely related healthcare discipline.
