Position Overview
Gehi & Associates is seeking a vibrant and engaging Radio Jockey (RJ) to serve as the prominent voice of our station. This full-time, remote role is aimed at delivering live music shows and fostering a captivating, fun experience for our audience to enhance listener loyalty.
Primary Responsibilities
- Host live music programs including request shows, countdowns, and entertainment segments with energy and charisma.
- Introduce songs, artists, and station promotions ensuring smooth transitions among music, advertisements, jingles, and announcements.
- Manage live broadcast timing, including advertisement breaks and technical cues.
- Develop innovative show themes, topics, and banter aligning with the station's style.
- Engage actively with audiences through phone calls, SMS, WhatsApp, and social media platforms during shows.
- Stay informed on local and global music trends, popular culture, and news to maintain fresh content.
- Represent the station at various events such as roadshows and community gatherings.
- Collaborate with producers and sound engineers to maintain broadcast quality.
- Record station-specific voiceovers, promotional materials, and IDs.
- Comply with the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) regulations and editorial standards.
Qualifications and Skills
- Educational Background: OND, Bachelor's Degree, or HND in Mass Communication, Theatre Arts, or similar fields; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years working as a radio jockey, presenter, or content creator. Candidates must provide a demo reel.
- Strong vocal skills including excellent diction, voice modulation, and an engaging on-air personality.
- Effective communication skills characterized by quick wit and conversational ability on-air.
- Good understanding of Nigerian and global music landscapes.
- Technical familiarity with broadcasting software, audio mixers, and editing tools.
- Personal traits: Confident, sociable, creative, and flexible to work varied hours.
Preferred Skills
- Active engagement on social media with the ability to generate listener interaction.
- Experience in podcasting, digital content creation, or hosting live events.
- An established fan base or listener following is considered advantageous.
Working Conditions
- Shift schedules include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Dynamic and fast-paced studio environment requiring live broadcast management.
Additional Information
- Work Days: Monday through Saturday
- Working Hours: 6 AM to 3 PM EST
