About Xanadu
Xanadu is driven by the mission to construct quantum computers that are both accessible and practical worldwide. Our team is composed of driven learners, innovators, and problem solvers who are pioneering unprecedented technology that promises to tackle some of the most complex issues faced globally. Being part of our team means contributing to groundbreaking advancements that could transform the world.
Role and Responsibilities
As a quantum compilation researcher, you will join Xanadu’s software and algorithms division to collaborate with scientists and developers in crafting innovative quantum algorithms and developing one of the leading quantum computing software platforms. Your key duties will involve architecting robust software solutions for quantum compilation, refining compilation passes to minimize resource consumption, inventing proprietary technologies, and producing scientific publications. Specifically, you will:
- Integrate novel compilation strategies into the PennyLane+Catalyst framework using state-of-the-art techniques aimed at optimizing resource demands for major algorithms.
- Enhance quantum software workflows to boost efficiency and solve bottlenecks related to compiling large-scale quantum algorithms.
- Refine compilation of quantum circuits targeting execution on fault-tolerant quantum hardware equipped with sophisticated quantum error correction.
- Design compilation methods tailored for dynamic quantum circuits and those incorporating control flow.
- Keep abreast of the forefront research in quantum compilation and provide visionary leadership within the team.
- Develop pioneering quantum compilation technologies that push boundaries in the field.
- Convert research insights into high-performance software implementations.
- Lead collaborative projects involving algorithm researchers, compilation experts, software engineers, and product managers.
Basic Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor's degree in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or commensurate professional experience.
- Proficiency in scientific programming languages such as Python and C/C++.
- In-depth knowledge of exact and approximate unitary synthesis approaches.
- Specialized experience in physical-level hardware compilation.
- Strong mathematical foundation, particularly in linear algebra and group theory.
- Experience with classical compiler technologies and intermediate representations.
- A proven record of research excellence in quantum compilation documented by peer-reviewed publications.
- Capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team.
- Excellent communication skills for conveying technical concepts.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Expertise in quantum error correction and fault-tolerant quantum computing.
- Knowledge of quantum algorithms, especially in quantum chemistry and machine learning applications.
- Experience compiling dynamic quantum circuits and circuits with control flow.
- Familiarity with JAX, MLIR, and LLVM technologies.
- Expertise in measurement-based quantum computation.
- Successful experience in transforming research findings into scalable, production-grade software.
Compensation and Values
This newly created role offers a base salary range of 100,000 to 140,000 CAD for mid-level positions and 150,000 to 180,000 CAD for senior roles, determined by location, experience, and internal benchmarks. Additional benefits include equity participation and comprehensive employee benefits.
Xanadu is dedicated to fostering a culture grounded in core values that promote inclusivity, safety, equity, and respect. We strive to create a workplace where every employee feels valued and heard.
