About PsiQuantum
PsiQuantum is dedicated to developing the first utility-scale, million-qubit, fault-tolerant quantum computers, leveraging silicon photonics and advanced semiconductor manufacturing processes. Our technology aims to solve problems beyond the capabilities of even the most powerful classical supercomputers and AI systems, impacting diverse industries such as energy, pharmaceuticals, finance, agriculture, transportation, materials, and more.
In 2024, we commenced government-supported efforts to construct our initial large-scale quantum machines in Brisbane, Australia, and Chicago, USA. Alongside hardware, we develop the algorithms and software to make quantum computing commercially viable, collaborating closely with leading Fortune 500 companies.
Role Overview
As a Quantum Applications Architect within PsiQuantum’s algorithms team, you will focus on designing, benchmarking, and implementing quantum algorithms tailored for fault-tolerant quantum computing. Your work will bridge quantum architecture, software development, and real-world applications by collaborating with internal teams and external partners, aiming to realize novel quantum solutions to practical and industrial challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Innovate and develop quantum algorithms specifically for fault-tolerant quantum computing systems.
- Design, develop, and benchmark quantum applications and their supporting tools.
- Engage with external collaborators and internal teams to validate and optimize quantum algorithms for various domains such as life sciences and sustainability.
- Conduct simulation and resource analysis for implementing quantum algorithms on photonic quantum hardware.
- Collaborate with the quantum architecture group to co-optimize algorithmic approaches alongside architectural design advancements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Graduate degree (MSc, PhD, or equivalent) in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline is essential.
- Extensive research background in quantum algorithms, compilation, complexity theory, or quantum applications.
- Preferred experience working with quantum algorithms or compilation in the fault-tolerant quantum gate regime.
- Proven ability to deliver results in fast-paced, high-throughput environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills, working seamlessly across departments and time zones.
- Capable of independent working and contributing dynamically within a startup culture.
