Role Overview
This office-based position in Addis Ababa is for a Quantity Surveyor responsible for preparing and reviewing Bills of Quantities (BOQs), generating cost estimates, and producing tender documentation for building and infrastructure projects. The role includes monitoring expenses, updating cost plans, and delivering periodic cost reports to both internal and external parties. Responsibilities extend to assessing contractor claims, variations, and payment certificates, supporting contract administration and procurement processes. Close collaboration with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders is essential to maintain accurate budgeting, cost control, and adherence to standards and regulations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Competency in preparing BOQs, performing quantity take-offs and measurements for construction projects.
- Expertise in cost planning, management, budget development, and monitoring.
- Experience in cost control and reporting to manage expenditure tracking and financial updates.
- Academic background in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications, leveraging QS or estimation software effectively.
- Strong numerical, analytical, problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities to work well within multidisciplinary teams.
- Prior exposure to building or infrastructure projects in Ethiopia or similar contexts is preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel, MS Project or Primavera for project planning, Revit, and AutoCAD software.
- Must hold a Professional Engineer License issued by the Ethiopian Construction Authority.
- Minimum education requirement of a Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent fields.
- A minimum of 5 years' overall experience, including at least 3 years in a comparable role within construction firms.
