Quantity Surveyor

Job Overview

Chen Infra seeks an experienced Quantity Surveyor or BOQ Maker responsible for accurate quantity estimation, BOQ development, billing, costing, and conducting site measurements across construction projects.

Primary Duties

• Develop comprehensive Bill of Quantities from architectural, structural, and MEP blueprints.
• Calculate material quantities for elements including RCC, masonry, plastering, flooring, painting, waterproofing, and doors/windows.
• Generate material quantity statements along with detailed construction cost estimates.
• Conduct rate analysis and project cost projections.
• Review drawings thoroughly to identify quantity needs and discrepancies.
• Perform on-site measurements and verify completed work accuracy.
• Validate bills submitted by contractors or subcontractors based on precise site measurements.
• Evaluate quotations provided by contractors and suppliers for cost effectiveness.
• Monitor material usage and quantities against the BOQ to ensure compliance.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and site leadership.
• Maintain organized documentation including BOQs, measurement logs, billing data, and quantity reports using Excel.
• Support cost control measures and track changes or variations impacting the project budget.
• Adjust quantities in response to drawing amendments or evolving site conditions.
• Attend various project sites as necessary, reporting on site measurements and progress.

Site Travel

The role requires regular travel to different construction sites for activities such as taking and verifying measurements, tracking work progress, reviewing bills, checking material needs, and coordinating with site professionals. Having a valid driving license and the readiness to travel between locations are advantageous.

Skill Requirements

• Proficiency in construction quantity take-off and estimation techniques.
• Strong capability in preparing BOQs and taking precise measurements.
• Competency in MS Excel for data record and analysis.
• Ability to interpret AutoCAD, architectural, and structural plans.
• Good understanding of civil construction materials and methodologies.
• Effective communication and coordination skills for multi-disciplinary collaboration.
• Self-driven with the ability to independently manage responsibilities in both office and field settings.
• Flexibility and willingness to undertake travel as project demands dictate.
