Role Overview
The Quality Manager is tasked with overseeing all aspects of food safety, quality control, and ensuring regulatory compliance at a meat processing plant. This role focuses on meeting company quality standards, fulfilling customer expectations, and adhering to legal regulations, while fostering continuous advancement in food safety culture, product excellence, and operational productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality assurance systems including HACCP plans and food safety initiatives aligned with local and global regulations.
- Supervise inspection of raw materials, in-process operations, and finished products to confirm specifications are met.
- Lead internal and external audits such as HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, BRC, and Halal certifications.
- Assure compliance with hygiene protocols, sanitation standards, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Ensure all operations meet governmental food safety regulations and industry standards.
- Manage product traceability, lead recall processes, and develop corrective action plans where necessary.
- Serve as liaison with regulatory bodies, certification agencies, and principal customers regarding quality matters.
- Provide leadership and development for the QA/QC team, including training on food safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
- Encourage a culture centered on food safety and continuous quality improvement throughout the organization.
- Train production staff on proper hygiene, sanitation, and product handling techniques.
- Analyze quality-related data to detect risks and uncover opportunities for improvements.
- Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive action plans (CAPA).
- Compile and deliver periodic quality performance reports to senior management.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Meat Technology, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 to 7 years experience in quality assurance within meat processing, poultry, or the food manufacturing sector.
- In-depth knowledge of HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, BRC, GMP, and Halal certification standards.
- Proven experience managing audits, regulatory compliance inspections, and fulfilling customer quality demands.
- Strong leadership and communication abilities coupled with effective problem-solving skills.
- Competency in Microsoft Office and quality management software tools.
- Excellent skills in analysis and quality reporting.
