Position Summary

The Quality Inspector role entails performing thorough quality checks and testing on parts and assemblies to verify that they fulfill or surpass customer demands, design criteria, and internal quality benchmarks relating to dimensions, appearance, and product dependability. The role includes maintaining tool calibration schedules and assisting with repairs as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute initial, ongoing, final, and visual inspections on parts and assemblies, ensuring operator accuracy and complete traceability records through monitoring measurements and appearances against prints, routers, and quality plans.
• Utilize measuring devices such as calipers, thickness gauges, micrometers, height gauges, hand gauges, computer radius gauges, pie tapes, optical comparators, manual CMM, and precision hand tools to conduct quality testing aligned with design specifications.
• Perform visual inspections to detect defects like blemishes, burns, voids, and cracks on parts.
• Maintain quality documentation in compliance with the Quality Management System.
• Carry out incoming material inspections as per quality protocols.
• Identify and request corrections on routers and prints and initiate Non-Conformance Reports, Material Review Boards, and Corrective Action Requests as necessary.
• Engage in problem-solving activities and support solution development when called upon.
• Assist with internal audits as directed by supervisors.
• Operate with minimal oversight and demonstrate flexibility by working across various quality department functions.

Qualifications and Experience

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• A minimum of five years’ hands-on inspection experience.
• Familiarity with basic inspection hand tools such as calipers, micrometers, Optical Gaging Products (OGP), manual CMM, and gauge pins preferred.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and apply foundational shop mathematics is required.
• Working knowledge of mechanical principles and computer use is advantageous.
• Strong visual acuity, logical reasoning, and sound judgment capabilities are essential.
• Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) is beneficial.
• Inspection experience within a machine shop or manufacturing environment is favored.
