Role Overview and Responsibilities

• Perform quality control for incoming materials by verifying raw materials against purchase specifications, reviewing test certificates and supplier documentation, inspecting castings, forgings, bars, and other components, and coordinating with suppliers to resolve quality issues.
• Monitor machining processes including turning, milling, drilling, grinding, CNC machining, and VMC operations through first-piece approval and patrol inspections while ensuring adherence to control plans and inspection standards.
• Execute final product inspections using precision tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to confirm dimensional accuracy, surface finish, geometrical tolerances, and functional compliance, approving products for dispatch only after meeting customer requirements.
• Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T specifications, review customer quality standards, verify process capability, and support production teams in quality adherence.
• Identify non-conformances, raise non-conformance reports (NCR), conduct root cause analysis using methodologies like 5 Why Analysis, Fishbone Diagrams, Pareto Analysis, and 8D methodology, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Oversee process capability indices (Cp, Cpk), conduct statistical process control, analyze rejection trends, and suggest improvements to reduce defects and variation.
• Manage customer quality concerns by handling complaints, performing failure analyses, preparing detailed 8D and corrective action reports, participating in audits, and ensuring compliance with customer-specific requirements.
• Evaluate and audit suppliers to improve quality performance, track incoming quality rejects, and drive corrective actions.
• Maintain calibration and measurement systems by ensuring instruments are calibrated, records are maintained, gauge repeatability and reproducibility studies are performed, and measurement system effectiveness is verified.
• Prepare and maintain all necessary quality documentation including control plans, inspection reports, process flow charts, standard operating procedures, quality records, PPAP, and FAI reports, ensuring compliance with ISO/IATF standards.
• Conduct internal process and product audits, support ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 compliance audits, track audit findings, and ensure closure of corrective actions.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts such as Kaizen and Lean initiatives aimed at reducing scrap, rework, and customer defects while enhancing first pass yield and supporting cost reduction projects.
