About the Role
A well-established food production company in North Cork is seeking a Quality Control Officer to support their expansion efforts. This onsite position reports directly to the Technical Manager and offers involvement in a variety of technical and quality assurance functions within the food manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage raw material oversight including specifications, questionnaires, risk assessments, Certificates of Conformance (COC) and Analysis (COA), as well as investigate and approve non-conformances.
- Coordinate and administer the annual raw material sampling and testing plans and review outcomes.
- Support the upkeep and control of BRCGS and customer food safety standards, including documentation management and procedural reviews.
- Participate in customer and third-party audits and execute product traceability activities.
- Complete and verify customer specifications and quality assurance standards, including nutritional data validation.
- Assist with compliance for certification schemes such as Kosher, Halal, RSPO, and Rainforest Alliance, including preparing applications and supporting audits.
- Collaborate as a member of the New Product Introduction (NPI) team, working alongside departments such as commercial, supply chain, and production to facilitate smooth product launches.
- Manage export documentation processes, including health and veterinary certifications.
- Conduct monthly quality control tasks such as hygiene and internal audits, swab testing reviews, and prepare reports for management review meetings.
- Investigate and resolve customer complaints relating to product quality.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree or an equivalent qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in a food production setting is essential.
- Understanding or experience with frozen food processing is advantageous.
- Knowledge of BRC, HACCP, and retailer-specific food safety compliance standards is required.
- Experience with retailer specification systems will be considered a plus.
