Quality Control Laboratory Apprentice

Training and Skills Development

• Learn to operate laboratory instruments and equipment following established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Work safely and efficiently within the laboratory environment.
• Apply theoretical knowledge of relevant sciences and technologies in practical contexts.
• Properly handle materials and equipment with adherence to safety and environmental protocols.
• Perform fundamental chemistry techniques including pipetting, auto-titration, pH measurement, weighing, dilution, volumetric calculations, Karl Fischer titration, thin layer chromatography, and physical testing.
• Identify equipment malfunctions related to sampling, testing, and control, and communicate such issues promptly to QC leadership.

Knowledge Acquisition

• Grasp fundamentals of sciences such as chemistry and microbiology alongside understanding production processes.
• Gain knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), quality management systems, Good Laboratory/Manufacturing Practice deficiencies, and principles of data integrity.
• Understand safe laboratory practices including housekeeping, labeling, calibration, and equipment use.
• Learn sample handling, logging, and testing procedures for water, raw materials, in-process and finished products.
• Familiarize with pharmacopoeia standards and investigation processes including out-of-specification (OOS) events.
• Become aware of QC purchasing, supplier interactions, and accurate reporting methods.

Contributor Responsibilities

• Promptly complete Accident Reports and Near Miss Forms when necessary.
• Participate actively in cross-functional training initiatives.
• Uphold and promote Takeda’s corporate values within the workplace.
• Ensure timely completion of all SOP readings, trainings, and assessments.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed by management.

Reporting

You will be reporting directly to the Quality Control Team Leader.

Qualifications and Eligibility

• Entry requirements include passing five Leaving Certificate subjects at grade O6 or better, including mathematics and a science-related subject, with a minimum of 250 CAO points; alternatively, current Takeda employees with relevant FETAC Level 5 or 6 qualifications and experience are eligible.
• Approval from SOLAS for apprenticeship participation is mandatory prior to enrollment.
• Awareness of health, safety, and environmental regulations.

• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and Word.
