Quality Assurance Advisor - Building

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Quality Assurance Advisor specializing in Building to lead and improve the quality systems supporting our Building Consent Authority (BCA) at the Thames-Coromandel District Council. Based in Thames, this role is pivotal in maintaining effective, compliant, and accredited systems aligned with relevant legislation and standards, fostering a culture of continuous enhancement within the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead quality assurance activities within the Building Unit, including conducting internal audits, managing accreditation processes, reporting, procedural evaluations, and driving continuous improvement projects.
• Identify system enhancement opportunities, provide practical guidance to staff, and contribute to developing consistent quality practices and capabilities.
• Support the advancement of efficiency, compliance, and customer-focused outcomes through quality system initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

• Proven experience in quality assurance, auditing, process improvement, or managing quality systems.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret complex information and deliver actionable improvement recommendations.
• Excellent abilities in administration, document control, reporting, and information management.
• Highly organised with effective time management and keen attention to detail.
• Comfortable utilizing technology and systems for planning, reporting, and service delivery support.
• A collaborative mindset with a solution-oriented approach to problem solving.
• Ability to foster trust, influence key stakeholders, and coach colleagues to attain positive results.

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with building control processes.
• Understanding of the New Zealand Building Act, Building Code, BCA accreditation standards, and related legislation.
• Experience working within local government or a regulatory environment.
