Purchase Manager

Job Overview and Location

This role is based at Mira Road, Mumbai, involving responsibility for all purchasing activities critical to the operational efficiency of the factory.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage the sourcing and procurement of raw materials, consumables, spares, and services essential for factory operations.
• Formulate and execute procurement plans to meet production demands timely.
• Negotiate pricing, contractual terms, and payment conditions to achieve cost-effective procurement.
• Identify and assess potential suppliers, fostering relationships with dependable vendors.
• Maintain and monitor an approved vendor list, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
• Optimize inventory levels to avoid production disruptions while preventing excess stock.
• Collaborate closely with Stores department to track inventory and manage stock levels.
• Coordinate with departments including Production, Maintenance, Quality, Stores, and Finance for efficient material planning.
• Ensure procurement documentation such as purchase orders, goods received notes, and contracts is accurate and comprehensive.
• Supervise logistics and transportation to guarantee timely delivery of materials.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma, BE, or B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or related disciplines; MBA in Supply Chain Management is preferred.
• 3 to 8 years of purchasing experience within manufacturing sectors such as steel, rubber, or chemicals.
• Proficiency in English is required.
