Role Overview

We are seeking a full-time Pugmill Operator based on-site in Exmouth, Western Australia. The incumbent will be responsible for operating the pugmill machinery to accurately mix and process materials according to specified criteria. Daily duties include performing equipment pre-start inspections, conducting routine maintenance, addressing minor equipment issues, and coordinating with supervisors and drivers to manage materials and stockpiles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operatively manage the pugmill to ensure materials are mixed and processed to required specifications.
  • Carry out daily pre-start equipment inspections and routine maintenance tasks to ensure operational reliability.
  • Troubleshoot minor mechanical or operational issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with site supervisors and truck drivers to coordinate material deliveries and maintain optimal stockpile levels.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Accurately document production outputs and maintenance activities in logs.
  • Perform outdoor work in various weather conditions and handle manual tasks as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Previous experience operating pugmills or comparable earthmoving, quarry, or fixed plant equipment with a strong mechanical understanding.
  • Familiarity with civil construction materials, mixing techniques, and quality assurance processes.
  • Good knowledge of workplace health and safety standards, including risk assessments and safe work methods.
  • Ability to interpret job specs, production plans, and follow technical guidelines.
  • Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with supervisors, drivers, and site personnel.
  • Dependability, including readiness to work extended hours or weekends and capacity to work outdoors in remote settings.
  • Possession of relevant certifications or licenses such as forklift, loader, or earthmoving equipment tickets is desirable, alongside a valid driver’s license.
  • Prior exposure to civil construction, quarrying, or earthmoving in regional or remote areas is advantageous.
