Role Overview

This internship position supports the Universal Pictures New Zealand marketing team, focusing on Publicity, Social, and Creative Services alongside some administrative duties. The trainee will contribute to the execution of marketing campaigns for a dynamic slate of films scheduled for 2027, including blockbuster titles like "How to Train Your Dragon 2," "The Mummy 2," "Shrek 5," "A Minecraft Movie Squared," and "The Lord of the Rings: Hunt for Gollum."

Key Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Publicity, Partnerships & Social Manager.
  • Provide general team support and perform reception duties 1-2 days weekly.
  • Participate in weekly work-in-progress meetings and actively contribute creative ideas and strategies.
  • Attend film screenings as needed and help prepare presentations for both internal teams and head-office stakeholders.
  • Draft initial creative copy and social media content; proofread various campaign documents.
  • Conduct research as required for campaign development and provide administrative assistance.
  • Manage purchase orders (POs) and budget updates for Publicity and Creative Services through SAP.
  • Collect and track proof of partnership activity, advertising, media reviews, and influencer coverage.
  • Compile post-campaign reports, including overview writing and adding points of purchase documentation.
  • Assist in organizing PR and influencer media send-outs, junket preparations, and preview screening/premiere event support.
  • Update and maintain social media calendars, brainstorm unique social content, and manage monthly Meta giveaways.
  • Support Creative Services by downloading and organizing film trailers, updating film ratings on AV assets, performing minor audiovisual and print edits, and conducting release day checks on exhibitor websites and social channels.
  • Collect exhibitor point-of-purchase materials.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficient with MS PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, CapCut, and Canva is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of diverse social media platforms.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and prioritization capabilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and creativity.
  • A passion for films and movies is desirable.
  • A background in creative or marketing-related disciplines is advantageous.
