Project Worker – Coffee Shop, Dublin

Role Overview

This full-time position is based in Dublin city centre and involves working collaboratively to provide essential support services including food access, respite, and advisory support to individuals who are homeless or at significant risk of homelessness. The role aims to create a safe, inclusive environment that encourages social participation and connection with services.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate within the framework and policies of Focus Ireland and the Coffee Shop service.
• Adhere to best practices according to Focus Ireland standards and models.
• Maintain a safe workplace by identifying and reporting health, safety, and welfare concerns promptly.
• Follow all operational procedures of Focus Ireland while present at the Coffee Shop.
• Work a flexible seven-day rota aligned with the service’s goals.
• Manage daily assigned duties within the Coffee Shop efficiently.
• Foster a secure, welcoming atmosphere by minimizing incidents and effectively managing behavior in line with relevant policies including violence management and TCI.
• Engage with clients by observing behavior, responding to emergencies per guidelines, and properly reporting incidents.
• Contribute to the upkeep and cleaning of the service environment regularly.
• Maintain accurate contact records, logs, and incident or child protection reports.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to new staff, modeling exemplary work practices.
• Prepare monthly reports as required by management.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams and external statutory and voluntary agencies.
• Participate in required meetings, training sessions, and regular supervision with line management.
• Continuously develop the role in partnership with management to align with strategic goals.
• Perform additional duties as reasonably assigned in consultation with the Line Manager.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• A relevant third-level qualification in social care or related fields such as youth work, social studies, addiction, or psychology.
• A minimum of two years’ experience working in social care with disadvantaged groups.
• Proven experience supporting marginalized individuals exhibiting high-risk or challenging behaviors.
• Understanding of challenges faced by persons who are out of home and how these impact their physical, emotional, and psychological wellbeing.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team environments with shared objectives.

Desirable Skills and Knowledge

• Familiarity with services within the homelessness sector.
• Awareness of child protection concerns and appropriate response methods.
