Acting as the commercial core of the site office, the Quantity Surveyor maintains strict oversight of the budget, comparing actual expenditures against allowable figures using CCS (Candy) and Buildsmart software. They ensure that the organization receives payment for all variations and accurately account for sub-contractor liabilities. Maintaining thorough documentation and audit trails is essential to meet both internal management expectations and external regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement internal cost controls and manage change request reporting effectively.
  • Oversee sub-contractor commercial activities to maintain contractual and financial integrity.
  • Manage variation orders and provide early warnings to anticipate potential issues.

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree (B.Sc or B.Tech) in Quantity Surveying, which is mandatory.
  • Registration with SACQSP as a candidate or professional Quantity Surveyor is highly preferred.

  • Experience working on complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects such as railways, roads, bridges, and earthworks, especially those funded by international institutions like AfDB, World Bank, or EIB, is advantageous.

Technical Expertise

  • Expertise in the Standard Methods of Measurement for advanced quantity surveying.
  • Strong practical knowledge of FIDIC Red Book and GCC 2015 contract forms.
  • Proficient in building complex Excel spreadsheets including reconciliation reports and S-curve progress tracking.
