Role Overview and Responsibilities
- Contribute closely with the Senior Cost Planner and Commercial Director as a vital member of the pre-contract team, participating in the design and specification phases of developments.
- Coordinate with development and technical teams to align financial objectives with the intended designs.
- Assist in preparing comprehensive build cost estimates at various development stages, often meeting tight deadlines for Commercial Director approval.
- Measure technical drawings meticulously to develop detailed cost plans.
- Evaluate all design proposals and perform value engineering analyses to maximize value and efficiency across projects.
- Update and manage the cost database to maintain accuracy in build costs and remain aware of current market trends.
Qualifications and Skills Required
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
- Previous relevant experience ranging from one to three years, ideally within property development, cost consultancy, or main contracting.
- Strong numerical aptitude and analytical capabilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and specialized measurement software.
- Exceptional attention to detail, communication skills, and organizational ability.
- Ambitious, proactive attitude with a keen desire to advance towards a full Cost Planner role.
